Lafayette Dental Office

A Modern, Light-Filled Practice Rooted in a Century-Old Home

Located in an almost hundred-year-old house in Lafayette, this dental office has evolved through several renovations over the twenty-five years I’ve worked with the practice. Each phase has responded to changing needs, new technology, and the growth of both the doctor’s team and patient base.

The earliest renovation centered on refreshing the interiors with a new color palette for the operatories, updated chairs and cabinetry, and a more inviting waiting room. The previous dentist had taped posters to the ceiling tiles as a distraction for patients; we replaced those with televisions installed in every operatory, complete with a curated selection of movies for longer procedures.

A number of years later, a broken toilet pipe caused a flood that required the entire office to be stripped down to the studs. In just six weeks, we designed and rebuilt the space with custom glossy white cabinetry, new state-of-the-art equipment, and a redesigned reception desk topped with marble. The lab was outfitted with a custom U-shaped stainless-steel countertop for durability, easy cleaning, and improved workflow.

The most recent renovation was the most transformative. Over the decades, the second half of the house had been leased to a rotation of medical tenants—a pediatrician, chiropractor, holistic vet, and others. In this remodel, that entire wing was finally incorporated into the dental practice, creating a unified, significantly larger office. Two new operatories were added, along with expanded private spaces for staff and the doctor. A new reception desk—now featuring Taj Mahal quartzite, ribbed paneling, and subtly metallic laminate—anchors the entry. The former tiny reception nook between the two wings has been reimagined as a welcoming coffee station for patients.

To accommodate the expanded footprint, the property was upgraded for full ADA accessibility, including a spacious restroom, a ramp connecting the private parking lot to the front entrance, and designated accessible parking. Updated hardscape and landscaping enhance curb appeal and create a more polished, inviting arrival sequence.

Across all phases, the guiding goal has remained consistent: honoring the unique history of the home while creating a bright, modern, highly functional dental practice centered on comfort, care, and efficiency.
